First interaction

I decided in September I was going to get a horse again. I was casually looking on Facebook to see what was out there, when I stumbled upon a bay mare that was 5 years old and exactly what I was looking for. That night I went to go look at her in Menomonee Wisconsin. After not being able to ride the mare, having a swollen hind leg and being a hot head, I told the current owners that I would take her. 1,000$ later (which is very cheap for a registered 5 year old horse) she was mine and soon to arrive just a week later.

Anxiety or Ulcers?

When I got pepper I knew that her biggest issue was anxiety while under saddle. As time went on her anxiety progressed instead of going down. Now as a horse person I had to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, what else could be going on here. Normally horses will relax and become more comfortable with being ridden after about 60 rides, Pepper simply was not. After talking to the barn manager and doing research I came to the conclusion that Pepper had ulcers. Now I had to decide what treatment method I was going to give her. There are hundreds of opetions out there from harsh drugs to simple herbs, deciding which was the best choice was very hard. I finally went with a more proven medicine. Within 28 days her ulcers were gone, her hair was shinny again and she had gained up words of 150 pounds. once I got Pepper back into the training routine, she was a completely different horse temperament wise!
